Legal analysis regarding compliance with California law was drafted by licensed California attorney, Matthew Krupke, Esq. The CA M249 is configured to be compliant with California firearm law. Alteration or modification of the CA M249 may result in the illegal manufacture of an assault weapon under CA law. Questions regarding alteration should be directed to your CA FFL holder or a licensed attorney.
BeltFedShooters.com is a great forum on belt fed guns in general, but there are good threads here for semi autos and CA versions that people have configured to comply with CA laws.
!!! BEAT ANY FUTURE BAN !!!
2014 California-legal model "CA249"
Semi-auto, California-Legal model (Featureless Rifle)
Calibers: 5.56x45mm, 5.45x39mm, 7.62x51mm
GOOD NEWS: The proposed Dec 31, 2013 BAN was postponed by the California Government! So Californian's can still legally purchase our belt feds (though this situation may change during 2014)
MODEL CA 249:
This gun is known legally as a "featureless rifle" and is legal for purchase in California at the moment.
We allow California residents to purchase this firearm as a "RECEIVER ONLY" so that you can "Grandfather In" your purchase before any ban takes place in California (just because the recent proposed ban was delayed does not mean that a ban will not happen.)
Remember that you can purchase a RECEIVER ONLY and Grandfather in your California-legal SAW now.
During 2013 the California legislature had attempted to ban these firearms from being owned in California. That ban FAILED (for now)
SIMILAR HISTORY: In 2003 the state of California announced a new ban on fifty caliber firearms. So for 9 months Barrett made and shipped primarily receivers! By completing the purchase and delivery of a RECEIVER ONLY, the Barret guns were "Grandfathered In" (which kept them legal) for those that purchased during that time.
Anticipating a similar reaction in 2014, and in order to guarantee that a greater number of Californians will be able to legally purchase these rifles, we are offering the option of purchasing the RECEIVER ONLY.
