Frequenty Asked Questions

Is the belted .223/5.56x45mm ammunition readily available? Yes, it is widely available today, especially online.

Is the civilian version an automatic machine gun?.
NO! This is a Title-1, semi-automatic rifle. And legal in most states. Legality in some states (such as CA and New Jersey) vary widely. Check with local authorities in your area for legality issues.

Can I use a registered sear?
While we do use registered Flemming-style sears and registered H&K packs (on ATF Form 2 in most cases but also transferables) in our line of law enforcement and military weapons, the U.S. Machine Gun Armory does not get involved in any aspect of Class 3 firearm sales, service, products or modifications to civilians.

For Domestic law enforcement agencies and qualified SOTs, however, we will gladly give you information about conversions, provide you with 3 and 4 position trigger housings, provide parts, etc. Check with our Law Enforcement team (contact us) and the BATFE for more information.

Are your guns "Short Barreled Rifle" thus necessitating special ATF forms?

We do NOT ship our guns with barrels of length less than 16 inches.

If you are interested in the statutes, they are clear and can be found on the ATF site located HERE.

The ATF site states the following:

(8) The term "short-barreled rifle'' means a rifle having one or more barrels less than sixteen inches in length and any weapon made from a rifle (whether by alteration, modification, or otherwise) if such weapon, as modified, has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches.

Note that the wording does NOT say "and/or" and it does not say "or." Even fitted with a barrel less than sixteen inches the overall length of ALL of our firearms is well above 26 inches, but none of our barrels are less than 16 inches in less and we would not knowingly sell SBRs.
